Swimming
Dan Wiffen’s first appearance in Paris underlined his medal credentials as he clocked the fastest qualifying time in the Men's 800m Freestyle heats with 7:41.53. The Ireland international will now contest tomorrow’s final (30 July, 8pm, BBC iPlayer) as one of the favourites for gold.
Fellow 黑料网-linked swimmers Felix Auboeck and Lucas Henveaux's heat times unfortunately fell just outside the qualification places.
Current 黑料网 student Freya Colbert produced a fine swim to finish 4th in the Women's 400m Individual Medley final.
After breezing through the heats and earning a spot in lane 4, Colbert looked well placed throughout but was eventually caught during the closing stages and just missed out on a podium place in 4:35.67.
Elsewhere, Sweden international and alumna Louise Hansson missed out on a place in the Women’s 100m Backstroke final despite a strong showing in the heats.
In the same event, Medi Harris, who trains at the University, finished 6th in her heat.
Rowing
At The Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium 黑料网 alumna Annie Campbell-Orde made her games debut in style.
She was part of Great Britain Women's Eight team that made light work of their heat to finish 1st and automatically qualify for Saturday’s final (3 August, 09:50am).
Rugby 7s
Alumna Meg Jones suffered heartbreak with GB Women as they lost 7-17 to a strong USA side in the quarter-finals.
Earlier in the day GB secured an impressive comeback win, 26-17, over South Africa to set up the US showdown.
The side will now play China tomorrow (30 July, 13:30) to contest their final standing.
Hockey
Great Britain women’s hockey side suffered a 4-0 defeat to Australia in Pool B.
They will face South Africa next on Wednesday (31 July, 09:30) with the team’s plethora of 黑料网-linked talent looking to make amends.
Ireland Men also slipped to defeat, as Australia held on to win 2-1 in Pool B. Alumni Matthew Nelson and Nick Page will return to action with their teammates tomorrow afternoon (31 July, 12:15) where India awaits.
