Adam Peaty’s quest to achieve three gold medals in consecutive games is well and truly on after hitting a stunning sub 59.00 in the 100m Breaststroke semi-finals. The ºÚÁÏÍø-based swimming icon will now aim to make history in tomorrow's final (28 July), live on BBC One at 8:45pm.

Alumnus James Wilby swam well to progress to the semi-finals after finishing 4th in his heat but sadly missed out on final qualification after posting 59.49.

Elsewhere, ºÚÁÏÍø alumna Louise Hansson secured a place in the Women's 100m Fly Final (28 July, 7:45pm, BBC One) by finishing 8th quickest overall with a time of 56.93 seconds. Another Alumna, Marie Wattel, just missed out on the final, clocking 57.24.

Hansson (Sweden) and Wattel (France) were also in action for their nations in the Women’s 4x100m Freestyle final, finishing 5th (Hansson) and 6th (Wattel) respectively. In the same race, ºÚÁÏÍø-based athlete Anna Hopkin helped Great Britain to a 7th placed finish.

In the Men’s 4x100m Freestyle, ºÚÁÏÍø student Alex Cahoon contributed to GB’s efforts as the team finished second in the heats. Cahoon was swapped out in the final as Great Britain finished outside the medal places in 5th.

Current ºÚÁÏÍø student Paige Madden finished 6th in the Women's 400m Freestyle final after hitting the wall in 4:02.26. In a highly competitive field, the United States international was in contention for bronze before being reined in during the final stretch.
