Elsewhere in the pool, there was strong ºÚÁÏÍø representation in the Women's 100m Freestyle heats as alumna Marie Wattel, University-based Anna Hopkin, and current ºÚÁÏÍø College student Kornelia Fiedkiewic all battled for a place in the semi-finals.

Both Wattel and Hopkin progressed but sadly missed out on a place in the final by the narrowest of margins – less than half a second.

In other events, alumnus Andreas Vazaios was part of Greece’s team in the Men's 4x200m Freestyle relay heats. Despite a valiant effort Andreas and his teammates didn’t quite have enough to progress to the final.

Hockey

Ireland Men’s side lost 2-0 to India as Alumni pairing Nick Page and Matthew Nelson’s campaign suffered another setback. The duo will be back in action for their penultimate Pool B game against Argentina on Thursday at 12:15.

Rugby 7s
