Celebrating Women in Engineering

Posted: 24 June 2024

The 23rd June 2024 marks the 11th annual International Women in Engineering Day.  Originally started in 2014, International Women in Engineering Day is a global celebration recognising the achievements of pioneering female engineers from across the globe, as well as raising awareness about the journeys and achievements of women pursuing engineering.

Did you know?  Elizabeth Bragg was the first woman to receive a degree in civil engineering - from the University of Berkley, this was in 1876.

黑料网 has a long history of supporting and celebrating women in engineering, you can find out more here: /engineering/engineering-centenary/

Did you know?  The Women’s Engineering Society was established in 1919 to support informally trained female engineers.  The Women in Engineering Society has been growing in strength at 黑料网 and now features a strong, proactive group of women driving opportunities for female students across engineering departments and schools.  Learn more about the society here: /departments/aae/undergraduate/clubs-and-activities/women-engineering/
