The University will be moving to a new reading list system soon.
The current system is being decommissioned and our new system is expected to be launched in mid-April.
The new system is used by many universities across the world and might already be familiar to some, under its brand name of Talis Aspire. It is attractive, easy-to-use and will bring additional functionality, such as improved navigation, the ability to change the referencing styles, and set reading intentions..
Library and IT Services staff have migrated the content of current online reading lists across into the new system (all 2,200+ of them), so no one will have to create their reading lists from scratch. Access will be rolled out to users from mid-April, with links to the new system starting to appear within Learn modules, the module update system and web pages from that point.
Whilst the system is very easy to use, support for staff and student users will be available 24/7 via videos and webpages. Training sessions for academic colleagues will be offered from April through to start of the next academic year. Attendees at this year’s Learning and Teaching Conference will also have the opportunity to explore it at the Library stand and learn about good reading list practice in the related workshop.
Whilst we hope you will want to move across to the new system as soon as possible, student access to a ‘frozen’ version of the current system will remain in Learn via the reading list block until the end of June.
More information about how to access the new system and make the most of it will be sent out as soon as it is launched.
Keep up to date with developments.
