As we dive into Stress Awareness Week, it’s a timely reminder of the importance of our wellbeing in our fast-paced lives. Stress is a universal experience, affecting people of all ages and backgrounds.
While stress can seem negative, it isn’t always bad; it can motivate us to complete daily tasks and meet life's demands. However, excessive stress can harm your mood, physical health, relationships, and may leave you feeling anxious or out of control.
Recognising stress and implementing effective strategies, can support us in leading more balanced lives and minimise the risk of chronic stress and burnout. (ISMA) has developed to support stress management:
- Learn to manage your time more effectively
- Adopt a healthy lifestyle
- Know your limitations and don't take on too much
- Find out what causes you stress
- Avoid unnecessary conflict Don't be too argumentative
- Accept the things you cannot change
- Take time out to relax and recharge your batteries
- Find time to meet friends
- Try to see things differently, develop a positive thinking style
- Avoid alcohol, nicotine and caffeine as coping mechanisms
To support Stress Awareness Week, the library will host a display, advertising support and advice available from ºÚÁÏÍø services and charities. Come along and look through our resources and write stress busting tips on our interactive display!
