Key roles and responsibilities include

  • Lab Manager for the Centre of Biological Engineering 
  • Facility Management of the CBE, responsible for logging maintenance jobs on Archibus in our area and liaising with FM staff until completion.
  • Dealing with problems as they occur and liaising closely with FM staff. Keeping staff informed about facility status.
  • Fire marshal. 
  • Quality manager for the CBE involved in risk assessment reviews for Process, COSHH and Biological Risk assessments in the CBE (Approver for HG1 Biological Risk Assessments).  
  • Ensuring that staff and students are suitably trained to work in the biological labs and comply with regulations.  
  • Maintaining and monitoring our wireless cold storage temperature monitoring system which is a requirement for working with human tissue (Human Tissue Act relevant material).
