Background

Hussam Fraij brings over 20 years of experience in engineering design, manufacturing, and education to his current role as a Lecturer in Engineering Design at ºÚÁÏÍø (Oct 2022 - Present). 

Engineering Expertise 

  • Hands-on experience: Hussam began his career as a Mechanical Engineer (Sep 2001 - Nov 2002) and Design Engineer (Feb 2003 - Jun 2004) where he honed his skills in 3D CAD modelling, Mold design, and production planning. 
  • Advanced Manufacturing: He then transitioned to a Fabrication Unit Supervisor role (Jun 2004 - Jan 2012), leading a team and overseeing all aspects of a CNC machine shop, including new design projects, production planning, and reverse engineering. 
  • Technical Skills: Hussam possesses a strong foundation in 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor), CNC programming (FeatureCAM), and various manufacturing processes (3D printing, CNC machining, traditional machining). 

Educational Leadership 

  • Lecturer and Course Leader: For over 10 years (Jan 2012 - Aug 2022) at Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, Hussam served as a lecturer and course leader, developing and delivering courses in Engineering Graphics, Mechanical Workshop, CAD/CAM & Manufacturing Processes. He mixes teaching styles (lectures, projects, flipped classrooms) to engage all learners. He uses varied assessments (quizzes, projects) for hands-on learning.
