The short animated film takes the viewer on a journey into and through the NRC building, showing how the space has been carefully designed to enable the NRC’s three core functions: clinical rehabilitation; research, development and commercial innovation; and training and education.
Ryan McCormack, Head of NRC Programme Construction & Commercial, said:
“The NRC is about much more than a building and it’s important to give people a sense of what’s coming, what it will look like, and how it will work. The fly-through is a great tool for sharing the vision and involving the future workforce at the NRC so everyone can get ready for when the facility opens in late 2024.
"We’re proud of the building and its many design features, but what matters most of all is creating a place which functions for the clinical purpose and which genuinely shifts the dial when it comes to outcomes for patients.”
The NRC will be one of the early schemes to be delivered under the government’s commitment to build more than 40 new hospitals by 2030. It will also be designed to be Net Zero Carbon, in line with the wider Greener NHS pledge to be the world’s first net zero national health service.
The designs for the NRC are inspired by best practice from around the world and have a modern look and feel which complements the traditional architectural style of the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (‘DMRC Stanford Hall’) which is 400m away across the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate.
