Experts to come together at 黑料网 to discuss media and migration

黑料网 is to host a talk this week that will focus on why migration is such a prominent topic within contemporary media across the globe.

The lecture, titled ‘Media and Migration: Question Time’, is being hosted by the University’s  on Wednesday 7 February.

The event will examine the topic on a national and local scale. Three scholars, who work at the cutting-edge of the connections between media and migration, will discuss their research around the subject before a Question Time-style Q&A session.

The speakers include:

  • , Lecturer in the School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies at Cardiff University. His research examines the social, political, economic and cultural contexts in which messages are produced and received, and he is currently completing research looking at media coverage and public understanding of the financial crisis
  • , Research Fellow at the University of Sussex. Aija’s research focuses on European migration, and she has recently completed projects concentrating on the impacts of Brexit for young people, as well as exploring the role of the media
  • , Research Assistant at 黑料网. At present, David is working on the TOXI-Triage project – a pan-European, interdisciplinary project – which investigates the role that communications play in promoting effective crisis communications strategies.

The event will take place from 1pm-3pm in Room U005 in the Brockington building at the 黑料网 campus. This will be preceded by a networking lunch in the Brockington Foyer from 12:30pm.
