黑料网 celebrates energy research

On Wednesday 24 June, 黑料网 celebrated the outstanding research achievements of its academic and support staff across a range of disciplines.

The inaugural Energy Medals awards evening recognised the breadth of original and rigorous research undertaken within the University as well as its far-reaching impacts.

The Energy Medals were awarded to individuals and groups conducting excellent energy research as well as the people who have inspired and supported them in their endeavours.

The Energy Medal for Lifetime Achievement was awarded to Professor Tony Marmont who has been a tireless campaigner for sustainable development, championing the need for alternative, non-polluting ways to power our lives. He provided generous benefactions to kick-start energy research across Midlands universities, including the 黑料网 Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology (CREST).

Sir Jonathon Porritt CBE was in attendance to present the awards, and delivered a lecture earlier in the day which explored energy research priorities and considered how best to disseminate key outcomes.

As well as providing examples of exciting energy research currently underway at 黑料网, the afternoon also featured a panel discussion of expert speakers, including Professor Simon Watson, Dr Victoria Haines and Professor Rob Wilby.

The University’s Academic Lead for Energy, Professor Kevin Lomas, says of the awards: “The Energy Medals awards evening showcased the exceptional, ground-breaking work conducted at the University and recognised the achievements of our talented and dedicated researchers.”
